Temporary Permits

A Temporary Permit is a paper license plate which may expire in 60 days. This permit is issued by a Colorado dealer when you purchase a new or used vehicle through the dealership. When the purchase of a vehicle is made from a private party, the new owner may obtain a temporary permit from our office. A bill of sale or the properly signed and notarized title is required to obtain a permit.

Tags for private party sales are issued on Monday and Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm by appointment. Please call the office for an appointment, do not use the appointment scheduler for this.
